History

Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kodki

Shortly after settling in Kodki and coming into association with devotees like ‘Sadguru Swami Aksharjivandasji’ and ‘Dhanbai fai’, the village people got together to build a small make shift temple in someone’s home, this effort was led by many leaders of the community and in particular Kanji Bhagat (Varsani). The temple was first built in Vikram Samvat 1961 (1905 A.D.)

Our community used to perform pooja and satsang there. As the satsang progressed the make-shift temple was too small for the community people so in Vikram samvat 1983(1927 A.D.) another temple was built, this became the gents temple and the older temple was designated for ladies.

The original temples were built with stone and Mud (mixed with cow dung ) as cement and concrete were beyond economical reach of our community people in those days.

As time passed and population grew the temple proved to be too small, so leaders like Dabasiya Naran Bhagat, Varsani Ratna Bhagat, Hirani Karsan Bhagat and others approached ‘Sadguru Swami Radhamanohardasji’ for guidance and solution. Another bigger temple was constructed in Vikram Samvat 2004 (1948 A.D. just after the Independence) at the same location where the current gents temple stands. This temple was constructed with stones, cement and roof tiles ( Vilayati – Nariya). It took 4 years of community’s hard labour to complete this project. The temple was completed on Chaitra Vad Navmi, ( which we celebrate every year as anniversary or patotsav of the temple.)

The gents & ladies temples was rebuilt in its current form in Vikram Samvant 2056 (2000 A.D.)

Since Kodki is fully under the protection of Lord Sri Nar-Narayan Dev and only one Sampraday exists there is great unity and various religious activities occur daily at both ladies and gents temple.
